Eden Valley Farms, LLC - Construction Update
Construction on the Eden Valley Farms hydroponic greenhouse complex began in mid April. The facility is located on 200 N across the road from the West Central School Corporation campus. The build encompasses around 5 acres total with about half production acres.
CEO Joel Putt and COO Trevor Putt hope to begin production around Thanksgiving 2020 with the goal of employing around 20-25 workers.
“This sustainable greenhouse farm will provide thousands of Hoosiers with fresh, safe and clean pesticide-free produce. Building this new farm enables us to keep pace with growing demand for local produce in the region,” said Joel Putt.
The main product grown at Eden Valley Farms will be multiple varieties of the lettuce family. Also grown will be herbs such as basil, cilantro, oregano, rosemary, etc. About half of the produce will be certified organic with the other half conventional. As most of the growing area is indoors, crops can be grown and shipped year round.
When asked about distribution plans, Trevor Putt sees a big market for their product.
“Our products will be sold in over 150 retail locations across the Midwest, " stated Putt.
Putt also hope to take advantage of their close proximity to the West Central School Corporation campus as both are graduates of the local school system.
“We are excited about bringing in students to help further their education and demonstrate to them a fulfilling career where they can contribute to providing healthier food for all consumers," stated Putt.
