Francesville Parks and Recreation Department
The Town Council for the town of Francesville established via Ordinance 1 of 2026 a Parks & Recreation Department. The department was established under the State Statute termed Indiana Park and Recreation Law (Indiana Code 36-10-3), initially passed in 1955 and amended several times.
The Town Council established a Town Board of Parks and Recreation (the "Board") to advise the Town Council concerning the town parks and municipal recreation matters generally. All books, papers, documents, and other property of former park and recreation authorities were transferred to and became the property of the Board.
The primary purpose of the Board is to determine the policy and procedures for the Francesville Parks and Recreation Department.
The Board consists of five members.

Francesville Parks Board Mission Statement
The mission of the Francesville Parks Board is to enhance the quality of life in our community by developing,
improving, and preserving safe, welcoming, and enjoyable parks and recreational spaces for residents of all ages.
We are committed to being good stewards of our community’s resources, pursuing funding and
partnerships, and supporting projects that improve Francesville Park today while planning for the needs of future generations.
Through community involvement, thoughtful planning, and responsible use of resources, we strive to
create a park that brings people together, encourages recreation, strengthens community pride, and
provides a place for everyone to enjoy.
Our goal is simple: to make Francesville Park a place our community can enjoy today and be proud to
pass on to tomorrow.
