Francesville Gazebo
At one time in the history of Francesville, in the open area north of the Francesville Post Office, was once located a movie theatre. The theatre closed in the late 1960's and sat vacant until the mid 1970's when a fire destroyed the building. The lot was cleaned up and sat empty for many years until the Uptown Project reclaimed the area and created what many call the "Francesville Gazebo" park.
The area, which contains park benches, floral displays, and the prominent white gazebo, is a great gathering spot for local residents to rest or stop and chat as they make their way to the post office or other businesses in town. The area's floor covering consists of brick pavers that are permanently displayed. Sponsored by the Uptown Project, the Francesville Downtown Improvement Project gives interested individuals the chance to create a unique and lasting record of family, memories and milestones via purchase of a brick. (See the bottom of this site's home page for information on how to purchase a paver brick).
The Francesville Gazebo is especially busy each Thursday evening during the summer as the Pulaski County Farmer's Market uses the area to sell local goods and produce. The Francesville Fall Festival as well as other scheduled events often find the area a perfect local venue for musical acts such as concerts, movie nights and other social activities.
Take a few minutes and relax and enjoy the Gazebo and be sure and take a close look at the history of Francesville engraved on the bricks!
