Francesville Water Department
WATER & SEWER USE COST
The volume of water used is measured by your water meter. It is the basis for computing charges for both water and sewage. Water meters are read approximately mid-month. Typical water usage per person varies considerably but may generally be in the range of 70 gallons per person per day.
WATER LEAKS-EXCESS WATER USAGE
Minor leaks in your plumbing can amount to major costs on your water and sewer bill. If your water usage appears higher than normal, first consider how your activities requiring water may have changed and the number of residents or guests living with you. Long showers, water using appliances, plants, lawn and/or garden watering, filling your pool and plumbing leakage all can increase your water use. Most leaks are from either inside or outside faucets or the toilet flap valve or overflow pipe. Suspected toilet leaks can be found by removing the toilet water tank lid and observing if the water level is about one inch below the overflow riser pipe or box. If not, adjust the water level float to lower the water level.
CHANGES IN OWNERSHIP/TENANTS
You must inform the Clerk-Treasurer of any changes in ownership or tenants for the utility accounts. A security deposit is required in advance before water can be turned on.
