Uptown Project Receives a NIPSCO Grant
The Uptown Project of Francesville recently received notice that the Northern Indiana Public Service Company, NIPSCO, has awarded the organization $500 towards electrical work in the newly refurbished Montgomery Mercantile building on 115 E. Montgomery Street in Francesville. What perfect timing as the last set of lights in the building needed to be purchased and installed for the grand opening on June 15th at 3 p.m. Committee members and their families have been working almost non-stop to ensure that all details are completed in time for vendors to deliver and arrange their inventory. Currently nine booth spaces have been have been secured for local and out of town vendors. Products range from jewelry, clothing line, scarves, repurposed vintage items, handmade quilts, handmade purses, and miscellaneous home decor. The vendors will enjoy a well lit 8x10 booth space in a newly remodeled building featuring refinished original hardwood floors. The store will open its doors to customers for the first time at 3 P.M. on Friday, June 15th with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by refreshments. The Uptown Project is grateful to Nipsco, Carroll/White County REMC and the Community Foundation of Pulaski County for their belief in this project through the monetary grants received.
